Hi, I'm Carla. I've been where you are.
Double mini trampoline gymnast, chiropractor, host of The Flip Side, and a doer of hard things. I help athletes, parents and coaches with the mental side of sport, because I spent a long time stuck in it myself.
My story
"Just do it" never worked
I started kindy gym at two and chose trampoline at 14. From about age 10 into my mid-20s I fought mental blocks: I'd do the first skill, then couldn't go for the second. I kept the same routines for years, cried at training more times than I can count, and was told to "just do it".
Changing the story, not trying harder
In 2022 I decided to take my sport seriously and started changing the stories I told myself. Then my coach Tom asked me what I loved about myself outside the gym, and I couldn't name a single thing. That question started the real work: learning that who I am isn't my score.
Still doing the work
In 2025 I made my first Australian team, for the Trampoline World Cup in Riccione, Italy, and in 2026 I competed for Australia again at the World Cup in Alkmaar, the Netherlands. I've also missed teams, including tucking a straight skill at a selection comp because I wanted it too badly. The blocks still creep back when the stakes go up. That's why I share all of it.
You never actually arrive, you just keep upgrading.
What I believe
The name plays on my sport and on the idea behind everything I do: there's another side to every hard thing.
- Your worth isn't your performanceA bad comp is something that happened, not who you are.
- Want it badly, and be okay without itCaring hard and holding it lightly can live together.
- Fear is learnedWhich means it can be worked with, one small, brave rep at a time.
- Win or learnEvery result gives you something, if you're willing to look for it.
